The latest Maruti Dzire is creating new safety benchmarks in the Indian automobile sector. Following its sales top in May, it now became the first sedan in India to be awarded a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. This landmark achievement builds on its previous 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, making the Dzire a beacon of safe yet affordable motoring.
A Historic First in Indian Sedan Safety
Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the first Indian sedan to achieve a complete 5-star crash test rating by the Bharat NCAP. The model that underwent testing, Dzire LXI 1.2L ISS 5MT, featured front airbags, side chest airbags, curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seatbelt pre-tensioners with load limiters. This package achieved top level protection for occupants in both frontal and side-impact tests.
This achievement places the Dzire ahead of every other sedan on Indian roads in terms of safety, reaffirming Maruti’s growing focus on passenger protection.
Uniform Safety Across All Variants
One of the best things about Dzire’s performance is that the 5-star rating cuts across all variants. Be it the base LXI or more premium trims such as VXI, ZXI, or ZXI+, each has the same safety credentials. The fleet-centric TOUR S and even the AGS (Auto Gear Shift) variants fall under the same crash test certification. This consistency provides assurance to purchasers, as they’re aware that no matter what their budget or variant of preference is, they’re obtaining the same highest level of safety.
Adult and Child Occupant Safety Scores Establish New Standards
In adult occupant protection, Dzire received 29.46 out of 32. It scored 14.17 out of 16 in the frontal offset test, and the side impact test received 15.29 out of 16. Driver chest protection was the only section that was “marginal,” while all other body regions had “good” scores, presenting an overall robust safety profile.
For the safety of child occupants, the vehicle scored 41.57 out of 49, which was 23.57/24 in the dynamic assessment and a maximum 12/12 for the installation of CRS. While the vehicle test score of 6/13 indicates room for improvement on aspects such as advanced driver assistance systems, overall protection levels are unmatched in its class.
Added Safety Features Support the High Rating
In addition to the structural safety and airbag protection, the Dzire is also outfitted with the necessary safety features that made it score as high as it did. The inclusion of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian safety improvements, and seatbelt reminders further cemented its position as a best-rated vehicle in safety. These aspects aren’t only for test-taking purposes—they add security to everyday driving for the driver as well as passengers, making Dzire a functional and secure choice for Indian families.
