Following weeks of drought and extreme weather, Madhya Pradesh is at last on the verge of receiving the monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the entry of monsoon in the state by June 15, 2025. With this, the excessive heat that has been troubling individuals for days is to abate in the near future.

On Saturday, the IMD declared a heavy rain alert in several districts of the state. Thunderstorms and lightning have also been forecast, and authorities have already advised people to take precautions.

June 15 Forecast: Torrential Rain Likely in Southern and Central MP

IMD states that the weather in Madhya Pradesh is expected to undergo a major shift in the next 24 hours. The department has given a red alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain in various crucial areas. Places such as Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori are projected to experience heavy rain with thunder activity.

Southern districts like Anuppur and Khandwa have also been put under the heavy rain warning. These are expected to experience strong winds and waterlogging due to sustained downpour. The advisory directs people to stay away from open spaces and indoors during lightning.

Storm Alert Extended: Warnings Cover Central and Western MP

The warning is extended to other major cities and districts as well, which are also likely to experience moderate to heavy rains on June 15. Cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Ratlam, and Jhabua have come under the thunderstorm warning category. Rain is likely to begin in these places by afternoon. Further, warnings have also been sounded for Alirajpur, Barwani, Dhar, Khargone, Rajgarh, Shajapur, and Dewas. Along them, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Harda, Sehore, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, and Narmadapuram are included where daily life could be affected by rainfall and thunderstorms, particularly in low-lying or flood-prone areas.

June 16 Outlook: Heavy Showers to Continue in Northeastern Districts

The rainfall intensity should not recede by June 16. Indeed, many districts in the north-east and central parts of Madhya Pradesh will continue to be on alert. Places such as Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Khandwa, and Dewas will once again see heavy rain.

Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur are on the alert list for a second consecutive day. Moreover, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Satna, and Maihar are expected to have incessant rain, which may result in traffic congestion and waterlogging. Light rain along with thunderstorms has also been predicted for Shahdol, Umaria, Panna, Katni, Damoh, and Narsinghpur. The inhabitants of these places should be watchful, particularly in the evening.

Severe Heatwave to Break: Relief from Temperature on the Anvil

Temperature levels in some of the cities of Madhya Pradesh have gone beyond 42 degrees Celsius today. The heatwave has hit daily life hard, with increased health issues and power consumption. But relief is likely to come with the arrival of the monsoon. As rains start and continue for the next couple of days, a dip in temperature and reduction in heat-related issues are expected. IMD keeps track of the changing weather situation and is likely to issue fresh updates if necessary.
