The residents of Uttar Pradesh experienced a breather from the sweltering heat as thunderstorms and rain swept across different areas. As some regions of the state are still struggling under high temperatures, relief is on the cards in the next few days as the monsoon gradually arrives. In districts like Moradabad, Sambhal, Bijnor, and Amroha, the rainfall over the past day helped ease the unbearable heat. The weather is still uncertain, but a rain alert has been issued across many regions.
Monsoon Brings Temporary Relief to Scorched Regions
In the last few days, heavy rain showers with thunder brought relief in districts of western UP such as Moradabad, Bijnor, Amroha, and Sambhal. The areas experienced heavy rains that brought the temperature down and provided relief to the people who were reeling under sweltering heat. Contrarily, areas such as Agra experienced temperatures going beyond 45°C, rendering it nearly impossible for people to venture out of their houses during the day.

The relief provided by this unexpected bout of rain is immense for agriculturists, too. In most areas, there is withering of crops because of a lack of showers. The absence of regular showers has affected the agricultural sector, creating distress in farming communities. But with the monsoon now moving forward, there are expectations of improvement in days to come.
Alert Issued for Heavy Rain in These UP Districts
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, several districts will experience heavy rain along with thunder and lightning. Some of these are Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Siddharth Nagar, and Balrampur. Some other districts such as Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, and Hardoi will also experience heavy downpour.
Moreover, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, and Badaun are issued a heavy rain warning. Sambhal, Etawah, Hathras, and Aligarh areas are likely to see thunderstorms accompanied by lightning. Winds in all the districts can be between 30 and 40 km/h, as per the updated forecast.
Parts of These Regions Remain Sizzling Hot Despite Rain in Other Places
Although rain has begun to show up in some parts of the state, extreme heat conditions still dominate several southern and central regions. Lalitpur, Jhansi, Jalaun, and Mahoba are under severe heatwave alert. The same is the case with Hamirpur, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, and Kanpur, where the sun keeps beating relentlessly.

Even areas such as Etawah, Firozabad, Agra, and Mathura, which are waiting for rain, remain stuck in scorching heat. Till the monsoon arrives in these areas, residents are asked to remain indoors for the hottest part of the day and be careful about heatstroke.
Monsoon Arrival Expected Soon: Relief in Sight
According to IMD’s recent update, the monsoon is slowly picking up steam and is likely to reach Uttar Pradesh between 20 and 25 June. The department has already sounded a rain alert all over the state, which means that the wait could perhaps finally come to an end. Once the monsoon arrives, citizens of UP can look forward to wider and more even rainfall, offering much-needed respite from both the heat as well as the prevailing water shortage that is hitting farmers.
Citizens are encouraged to keep themselves informed about local weather forecasts and make necessary preparations, particularly in areas under heat and rain warnings.
